Janie Chien was born in Shanghai, China. She is fluent in Chinese/Mandarin. Janie graduated from CAL State LA where she studied Vocal Performing Arts, Sociology and Chinese Literature and Language. Now, She teaches Chinese/Mandarin at Los Angeles City College and Los Angeles Valley College for the extended learning programs. She is a Chinese/Mandarin coach for actors, since she has a strong background in performing arts. Janie is also a voice over artist; her contribution in voice over field is remarkble. She cherishes her experiences in teaching/coaching to students who come from all over the world. Janie provides private lessons to those who need special and intensive learning in Chinese.

Janie has written her own textbooks with CDs (all lessons' recording) for her students to grasp the language based on the Pinyin System, Tones and to focus on spoken Chinese. Therefore, one can learn Chinese/Mandarin in a quicker and clearer approach within a short period of time.

Janie often says to her students:"If you think you can (learn/speak Chinese), you can!"
